Need a place to start?
Putting together a list of the family photos you want can be a little overwhelming at first. Have no fear! This list will definitely get you moving in the right direction.

Please include your relationship and the first name of
every person in each photograph. You don't need to
include your own names.
Here's an example of the
preferred format:
Bride + Groom w/ Bride's Parents & Siblings (Jane, John,
Sally, John Jr.)
Here are several suggestions. Most couples include
eight to twelve groupings on their family photo list.
1. Bride + Groom w/ Officiant (name)
2. Bride + Groom w/ Flower Girls & Ring Bearers (comma separated names)
3. Bride + Groom w/ Bride's Parents (comma separated names)
4. Bride + Groom w/ Bride's Parents & Siblings (comma separated names)
5. Bride + Groom w/ Bride's Grandparents (comma separated names)
6. Bride + Groom w/ Bride's Parents & Grandparents (comma separated names)
7. Bride + Groom w/ Bride's Parents, Grandparents, & Siblings (comma separated names)
8. Bride + Groom w/ Groom's Parents (comma separated names)
9. Bride + Groom w/ Groom's Parents & Siblings (comma separated names)
10. Bride + Groom w/ Groom's Grandparents (comma separated names)
11. Bride + Groom w/ Groom's Parents & Grandparents (comma separated names)
12. Bride + Groom w/ Groom's Parents Grandparents, & Siblings (comma separated names)
Some people also want some individual photos… ex. Bride + Mom or Groom + Dad, etc. Keep these in mind but don’t go overboard. Take time to consider if the pictures being taken are the photos you’ll be using in an album or printing for yourself/others.
Large Groups
Large groups are more difficult to pose than small
groups. Although I'll photograph everything on your
list, please try to organize family groupings so that
they include fewer than 12 to 14 people.
Let People Know
After we finalize your list, contact each person and
them know that they're included in family photos.
Stress how they shouldn't wander off after the
ceremony or they might disappear to grab a drink,
visit a restroom, or smoke a cigarette.
Indoor Portraits
Although most family portraits occur outside, if an
indoor location is required, add ten minutes to the
family photo schedule so that I have enough time
to setup and break down my stands and flashes.
